About Us

SAVE is a student nucleus which stands for " Students Against Violation & Exploitation" initially started in July 2005 by Prof. Avkash Jadhav (Dept. of History) and a group of enthusiatic students from different disciplines at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. Unfortunalely due to students passing out of college & few other reasons it couldn't survive in its true spirit & hence got fizzed out.

Though it wasn't existing in practicality but it was very much there in the core of Prof. Avkash and again on 21st June 2008 it was revived in its original spirit with the help of other enthusiastic students. The purpose & aim of SAVE is to create awareness among students and prepare them to be a responsible and accountable citizens. SAVE conducts activities in different spheres like social service, citizen activism, utility oriented workshops and much more.

16th September 2009

It has been already three months that the academic year has begun but this year has not been an ideal year either for the students or for the teachers. The beginning of the year saw a successful 48 day long teachers strike for providing a much deserved salary hike to the teachers but also affecting the schedules of the entire year. SAVE also did not get much of a chance to execute its activities. Hence it was decided to have a re-union of SAVE members in an informal set up in order to warm up for the tasks that lay ahead for the year 2009-10.

The location for the re-union was decided to be at Mohd Ali Road. This was because this place held the ramzaan feast each year and was known for its delicacies. At around 7:30pm, Aditi Misra, Paramita Debnath, Savio Pashana and Manas Joshi left St. Xavier’s College heading towards the pre-determined location. They were joined by Faraaz and Fatima Dhansura along with her fiancĂ© outside Mohd Ali Rd a little while later. They managed to get a place at the crowded site after a few efforts. And then, the feast began.

Almost all of the items mentioned in the menu were ordered for. This included chicken tandoori, chicken deep fry, chicken sandwich, mutton roll, baidaa roti and the list went on. Main course dinner was also accompanied by desserts that included rabdis, phirnis, ice-creams etc. Eating was also accompanied by talks and laughter. All the members had fun and enjoyed the re-union in that crowded yet serene ambiance. The feast came to an end then at around 10pm. All the SAVE members departed but with a new vigour for all the upcoming tasks.

Keep checking SAVE blog for latest updates.
